Liposculpture can be performed during facial cosmetic plastic surgery in order to complement other procedures such as rhinoplasty (nose job), chin implant, facelift, and/or neck lift.
A Neck Liposculpture, or Cervical Liposculpture, is performed in order to remove unwanted fatty deposits from below the patient’s chin. Ideal patients have good skin elasticity and have been able to achieve a stable overall body weight. Recovery time is generally one week.
By using a very specific cosmetic surgery method, such as ultrasonic-assisted (UAL) liposculpture or tumescent liposculpture, localized fat deposits are removed in order to better contour one’s body. Common locations for liposculpture typically include the abdominal area, back, thighs, calves, or butt. More common liposculpture areas for one’s face would include the chin, jowls, and neck. Cosmetic liposculpture surgery may also be used for breast reduction on a woman, along with treating gynecomastia (male breast reduction) as well.
Liposculpture cosmetic surgery can take up to two hours or more to complete, yet all depends on the volume of the surgery. The type of surgical method used and the number of body areas treated will also affect the length of time for one’s cosmetic procedure.
Some side effects of Liposculpture include: temporary swelling, bruising, and soreness are potentially reduced when either the ultrasonic-assisted liposculpture (UAL) or tumescent liposculpture surgery is the method used. Drainage from the incision sites is a possible side effect of the tumescent method.
The patient can typically return to normal activities in about one to two weeks. Strenuous activities should be avoided for up to four weeks. All patients should refrain from smoking during this recovery time, in order to avoid a prolonged recovery period and ensure proper healing of the body parts that underwent cosmetic surgery.
