A Cheek Augmentation is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is intended to pronounce the cheekbones in a person’s face. A patient’s trusted cosmetic plastic surgeon will usually make an incision in the upper mouth near the top of the gum line and slide the cheek implants into place. The second most popular material used for cheek implants is expanded polytetraflouroethylene (ePTFE). This is known to integrate pretty well with internal tissues to prevent the implant from shifting around and potentially falling out of place. Bone grafting can also be used to build up a person’s cheekbones as well as coral and other less common materials, but again, this is something that should be determined by the plastic surgeon and the patient.
